SUMMARY STATEMENT: Format publications for the Continuing Legal Education Division to meet book layout and printer specifications and requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Format manuscripts, generate table of contents, table of cases/authorities and book covers as needed.
Proofread and copy edit CLE publications as needed and assigned.
Communicate with authors regarding manuscript deadlines and submissions, editorial adjustments to manuscripts, formatting and typesetting of manuscripts.
Communicate with printing companies regarding manuscript specifications, printing deadlines and ordering.
Assist with Marketing of publications and proofreading of publications brochures.
Distribute manuscripts to authors and editorial boards; assist with arranging author and Publication Committee meetings; attend Publications Committee meetings and take, draft, and distribute meeting minutes.
Assist with coordination of work assignments and workflow with contract formatters in sending publications to the printer in a timely fashion.
Serve as back-up for the CLE Publications Coordinator to include, but not limited to, assisting with telephone and walk-in orders and inquiries, order taking, and shipping.
Attend trade shows as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Bachelor's degree or high school diploma or equivalent, with three years' business office experience in publishing, printing or advertising and/or experience and professional knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Adobe Acrobat (PDF) Software and Microsoft Word. Excellent word processing skills; experience with desktop publishing; experience in print project management; ability to effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines; must appreciate urgency of tight deadlines and be willing to work to complete rush jobs on time; excellent grammar and communication skills; editing and proofreading experience; attention to detail including following style sheets; organized, detail oriented and a team player; ability to work independently and to follow through on assigned projects with minimum supervision; ability to work well with numerous lawyer volunteers and to maintain excellent public relations with the Bar.
DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Experience with additional publishing software systems and graphic design. Experience in legal publishing. Experience in working with volunteers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Prolonged periods of time sitting and/or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
